FAQs

General Questions

Who is Canopy Protection Network Inc.?
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing storm damage by promoting responsible tree management.

How does your organization help families?
We assist families by providing educational resources on tree care and storm preparedness. Additionally, we help fund tree removal/pruning services for households that face significant risk but may not have the means to afford it.

Why is responsible tree management important?
Proper tree maintenance can prevent storm-related hazards like falling limbs or uprooted trees, which can cause severe property damage or injury. It also contributes to environmental health by promoting sustainable growth and biodiversity.

Does homeowners insurance cover preventive tree removal?
No, most homeowners insurance policies do not cover the cost of removing trees as a preventive measure. Insurance typically only pays for tree removal if the tree falls due to a covered peril and causes property damage. See FAQs Insurance and Tree Coverage page for more details.

Does government assistance cover the cost of removing trees to prevent storm damage?
Government assistance programs generally do not cover preventive tree removal, as they focus on disaster relief and recovery rather than proactive maintenance. However, some states may offer grants or local programs—check with your state office to see what assistance is available.

Getting Assistance

How can I apply for tree removal assistance?
We are currently in Phase 1, so our application portal is closed. Once we secure enough funding to launch Phase 2, all registered members will receive an instant alert, and the portal will reopen.

Who qualifies for tree removal assistance?
Assistance is typically provided to households where a tree poses an immediate threat to a home or property, and financial constraints prevent its removal. Priority is given to families in high-risk areas.

How long does the approval process take?
Processing times vary depending on the number of requests and available funding. Applicants will be contacted within 2-4 weeks after submitting their request.

Donations & Volunteering

How can I donate to support your cause?
You can donate through our Donate page, where we offer options for one-time or recurring contributions. All donations go directly toward funding tree removal services and educational programs/material.

Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes! Canopy Protection Network Inc. is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are fully tax-deductible. Every donation comes with a PDF receipt, and our donor dashboard makes it easy for you to track your contributions.

How can I volunteer?
As a newly launched organization, our volunteer opportunities are currently limited, but growing! We welcome support in areas like community outreach and assisting with tree maintenance events as they become available.
